Nursery 3-4
Welcome to Bumblebees
Whether your child is continuing their journey with us from our 2-3 provision or joining South Wellfield for the first time, we would like to extend a very warm South Wellfield welcome to you and your family.
At Wellfield, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued and inspired to learn. Guided by our vision and the values of The Wellfield Way, we provide a nurturing, engaging environment where children can develop their confidence, independence and curiosity as they take the next steps in their early years journey.
The 3-4 year old nursery year is an exciting time of growth and discovery. As children become increasingly independent, we encourage them to develop their own interests, make choices, solve problems and build positive relationships with others. Through carefully planned learning experiences, purposeful play and meaningful interactions with skilled adults, children are supported to become confident learners who are ready to embrace new challenges.
We know that strong partnerships with parents and carers are vital to children's success. Whether you are already part of our Wellfield family or are joining us for the first time, we look forward to working together to ensure your child feels happy, secure and ready to thrive.
Our curriculum is built around rich experiences, high-quality stories and opportunities to explore, investigate and create. Through both indoor and outdoor learning, children develop their communication and language skills, early literacy and mathematical understanding, physical development, creativity and knowledge of the world around them.
Our nursery environment reflects our vision of developing children who are:
- Well Nurtured - happy, safe and supported to flourish
- Well Read - immersed in stories, language and a love of books
- Well Equipped - developing the knowledge, skills and independence needed for future learning
- Well Rounded - confident, curious and willing to try new things
- Well Connected - building positive relationships and understanding their place within the community
Everything we do is underpinned by The Wellfield Way:
Safe. Respectful. Ready.
Together, we will nurture a love of learning, celebrate every achievement and help your child grow into a confident, capable and resilient learner.
We Shine Brightly
At Wellfield Nursery, every child is known, valued and encouraged to shine brightly. We look forward to sharing this exciting stage of your child's learning journey and welcoming you into our wonderful Wellfield community.
A Day in Nursery
A nursery day runs from 8:40 until 3:10 and can be split into two 3 hour sessions, 8:40 - 11:40 or 12:10 - 3:10. The Bumblebees will come into their own classrooms in the morning and self register by putting their own Bumblebee on the wall. During the day they will experience a range of adult-led sessions where they learn to listen attentively through stories and songs as well as having plenty of opportunity to explore the many areas set up, providing different learning opportunities both indoors and out. As the year progresses children will begin maths work, counting and recognising numbers and shapes as well as learning sounds and letter recognition through our phonics programme.
The children will have snack time in the morning which is a great opportunity for the children to sit together and develop their communication and language skills whilst enjoying their milk and snack. The children go the the main hall for lunch at 11:30am, whilst those going home will have story time with their teacher before pick up.
Children in Nursery also benefit from our new Forest School which they will visit every Friday. If your child loves the outdoors they will have access to our well resourced outdoor classroom everyday and they will also have the opportunity to visit our front yard which is a designated physical development space.
Our aim is for children to develop imaginatively and creatively through play in the different areas in Nursery and this will equip them with the skills for the next stage into Reception.
